Truancy and academic performance is based to a large extent on the absence of an effective communication system between administration and parents/guardians.

With MyTxtBox schools are given a direct means of communicating with parents/guardians. a school’s administration can communicate with pupils, parents or other teachers quickly, conveniently and cheaply.  SMS communication is a very cheap option for schools (as an SMS costs just a fraction of a phone call). Its cost is unbeatable when compared with post mail, press and broadcast advertisments.

Administration can send updates to parents regarding the following:

Absenteeism: SMS will be sent to parents alerting them about their ward’s absence from school.

• Academic reports/performance: Administration can send end of term results to parents via SMS. Also parents will be sent periodic updates on their ward’s academic performance and general conduct;(weak subjects, interests etc)
• Information: In place of letters which most parents hardly receive, SMS will be sent to parents notifying them about P.T.A. meetings, speech/prize giving days, fund raisings, sporting activities and excursions.
• School Fees: With this, administration will send SMS to parents about fees (increments, arrears etc). Likewise SMS will be sent to parents during delays in deposition of school fees

This will be used to complement existing notification systems or as an alternative.
